What we check during a diagnosis
We work through the system in order rather than guessing: power and breaker, the pressure switch and its contacts, the pressure tank's charge and condition, wiring and the control box, and then the pump itself. Short-cycling, for example, is far more often a waterlogged pressure tank than a bad pump — replacing the pump in that case would cost you money and not fix the problem.

Is it better to repair or replace?
It depends on the pump’s age, what failed, and the condition of the rest of the system. A pressure switch or bad connection is a straightforward repair; a pump well past a decade old that has already failed once is usually better replaced. We give you our honest read either way.
Can a bad pressure tank damage my pump?
Yes. When a tank loses its air charge the pump cycles constantly, and that repeated starting is one of the fastest ways to wear out a motor. Fixing the tank protects the more expensive component.
